My name is Malik Williams, and I have been immersed in the world of chess since the 3rd grade.
I was initially drawn to the game after struggling to defeat my father, which sparked my curiosity and determination to master this intricate board game.
Through dedicated practice and participation in Mr. C’s chess class, I witnessed immediate progress, ultimately triumphing over my father and sparking a newfound interest in chess within my family.
Although I refrained from participating in tournaments until my second year in the club, my debut proved to be a resounding success as I emerged victorious in all my games.
This triumph fueled my passion for chess and led me to apply its strategic principles to my athletic pursuits. Furthermore, as I pursued a degree in Biochemistry, I discovered that the skills honed through chess, such as problem-solving and critical thinking, were instrumental to my academic success.
