Welcome to Chess for Children, where we believe that chess is more than just a game. Our mission is to provide intellectual and academic excellence through the game of chess, allowing children to develop essential life skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making.
Our Story
Our story began with National Chess Master Steve Colding, who started Chess for Children after witnessing a senseless family tragedy that left a child in tears.
It was that tear that moved him to teach chess, hoping to help those who don’t think about the consequences of their actions.
Steve believes that chess teaches children to think strategically and plan ahead, making them more aware of the consequences of their choices in life.
Why We are Different
At Chess for Children, we are different from other chess websites. Our mission is not just to teach children how to play chess, but to remove the fallacies of thought that hold them back from becoming the best people they can be. We believe that by learning the game of chess, children will develop the mental agility and emotional intelligence needed to succeed in life.
